The Wedding Day - Part 3
Today was the big day for my brother in law, the wedding ceremony was in the evening but we still had lots to do! We had to collect the wedding car, pick up some last minute essentials and make sure everyone was ready by 4pm to set off. Driving around Aberdeen was pretty simple, we're used to London roads so Aberdeen felt like a small village in comparison. It was calm and the wide winding roads just made it easy to cruise around. It was half an hour to the airport where we were collecting our rental from Enterprise, and we already had two other cars from them so it just made sense. We had booked a Mercedes GLE to arrive in style (and carry all of us) to the venue and back - and that was the best they had on hand at the time! We had a sweet breakfast spread of pancakes, Nutella, strawberries and blueberries, to get everyone into a happy mood for the day (we weren't miserable, just exhausted from yesterday's hike!)
As usual, there is no Bengali wedding without some havoc, so of course we ran into multiple obstacles collecting the Merc. We needed to put down a hefty deposit and that too on a credit card of someone over 30. We don't do credit cards. Luckily, one of our relatives swooped in to save the day and put down the deposit for us to be able to take the car. Can you imagine the stress if we weren't able to get it like we'd planned all along? I don't want to imagine, it's too stressful even in retrospect.
One of the boys forgot their Airforces, another forgot his socks.. so off they went to JD to buy those 2 hours before the wedding. My makeup was not sticking to my face, my outfit was itchy and my daughter was running around in her stained vest crying for her third yoghurt - I was okay, I promise. In my madness to be ready on time, I was actually doing well and even had my daughter ready in time - only to find out we had to sit and do nothing as...the bride was running late. It happens though, and I was just happy I could relax. We had a light lunch and just watched some daytime TV, did a few mini vlogs and the time had come to leave.
The wedding venue wasn't far, it was a beautiful hotel nestled between a slightly foresty area - giving beautiful vibes to the atmosphere. We pulled up and the anticipation was setting in - we were a small groom's party but we were ready for it! I wasn't here to take photos though so I don't have any to share :( We had the usual wedding itinerary, with the groom waiting for the bride's entrance, the nikkah and then the food. It was kept simple and easy for everyone. I've put just a few photos I took from the evening - I did have my camera, but it was just for family purposes! It also died because I forgot to charge it lol.
